My 2 cents. I would never come here for a nice lunch or dinner. Kozy is about BREAKFAST!!! Especially after a long night of partying!!! The biscuits and gravy are AWESOME.....I will give you an expert tip....If you order them...simply say, "Will you please not over nuke the biscuits so they dont get hard?" I swear it's 50/50 if you get fresh biscuits, or fresh biscuits with REALLY hard bottoms. So if you request it, they'll make sure they are perfect. They make REAL hash browns, not the home fries or fried taters....and i love those. Service is good at times depending on how well staffed and what waiter/waitress you have.

Kozy Kitchen is an icon for the bay area, and I feel it is unwarranted. When I began going to Kozy, food was serviceable and the portions were huge. The portions are still large, but the quality has really gone downhill, especially when it comes to the lunch and dinner menus. Breakfast still has bright points, including pancakes and french toast, but avoid any egg dishes or anything with gravy. The eggs often come undercooked and the sausage gravy is obviously from a can. The lunch faire is what you would expect from your everyday diner, burgers, salads, etc. The menu is not the problem. It's the execution. Salad greens often come out brown; burgers are dry and use the same brown greens; bread is soggy on sandwiches. These are just a few of the problems of execution that lunch will be a part of their lunch service. Avoid this place for lunch. Unfortunately, things do not get better at dinner. All portions of protein are going to be overcooked to differing degrees. The last time I had the pork chops, they were as tender as my shoe sole. Steaks best be ordered at medium for well done and ordering it at medium-rare will yield a medium-well steak. Vegetables are canned. Gravy is canned. I suspect the mashed potatoes are instant. Nothing at all worth eating for dinner. The only reason I give Kozy Kitchen 2 stars is because they are open 24 hours. Good only for late night food runs.

I would not waste my money here. Last time I ate there I ended up with vomiting and diarrhea. I have eaten there and been fine but the food is not good enough to take the risk, I will not be going back there again.

I can only respond to the fabulous breakfast we enjoyed here. Try the "love browns" -what a fantastic treat!

This restaurant has been a family favorite for many years and will continue to be so well into the future!

My friend and I went in for a meal. He got the tiniest excuses for chicken drumsticks I have ever seen. The waitress got argumentative with me over what my order was supposed to consist of. There's nothing kozy about this joke of a kitchen folks. EAT ELSEWHERE. Life's too short for bad food and bad service.

It's a rare occasion it seems when you can pop into a cafe that serves a Monte Cristo..this was one of them and the sandwich was delicious. Based on that alone I'd have given a higher rating, but service was awful. A seat yourself establishment, started off good but was never checked on not was my water glass ever refilled. Stop by for the Monte but if your thirsty bring your own bottle.

I'm disappointed in this location of late. it is really dirty. like, really SERIOUSLY dirty. have they taken a good hard look at their floors lately? they don't clean their tables properly. there's always crumbs and weird chunks of other people's food still left even after their cursory wipe-down. And I always seem to leave this location smelling like grease. it permeates your clothes and hair in the short time you're in there. I always have to change my clothes after I've eaten there. The food is still a tasty "home-cooked" meal. But I just can't get over how filthy it is. that's the biggest turn off of all.

Dirty. Counter had some coffee stains and crumbs, but I initially overlooked that. I placed my order and then watched my server empty several garbage cans, roll up and carry off some dirty floor mats, rub his nose and then answer the phone without washing his hands. I could see one of the cooks (with the long scraggy beard) itching his inner ear with his pinky inside the kitchen/grill area. At that point I hightailed it outta there and just a left a few bucks for my coffee.

I'm drunk, they fed me. I like burgers when I'm drunk and I'm happy. The burger was greasy and good. I will not be hungover tomorrow.

Where do I start. My Father and I went in for a bite to eat today on a Sunday afternoon. We walk in and every available table had not been bussed yet. So, reluctantly, we took a seat at the bar. And I always avoid doing this at most establishments because who knows what you'll see the cook doing that could gross you out. The less you know, the better, right? The first thing I realized was that all the staff were different from the previous time I had stopped to eat there. Not one familiar face. So anyways. My father ordered a short stack French toast and I requested a chicken strip and fries. It took 40 minutes to get us our food. Simple orders like ours shouldn't have taken more than 5 or 10 minutes tops seeings how the majority of our order was fryer work. We had a waiter make excuses as to why our order was taking so long to get out to us. We were not offered water while we waited. And the flies were beyond obnoxious. When we were finally served our meal, my fries were limp, but admittedly the chicken strips were great. Then we receive our ticket and my father's glass of milk cost more than a whole gallon would at a local grocery store. $3.95 As we go to leave, our original waitress offered me a soda to go as a last effort to save her tip. This is not the first time I have ate at Kozy Kitchen on Newmark. My last experience was just as bad. I had clam strips that tasted like battered rubber fried in dirty oil. This establishment has been, by far, my worst sit down experiences.

Waited over 25 minutes - the food was burnt and cold! Who would think they could mess up so badly. When requesting a non- burnt breakfast - it took another 15 minutes! Finally gave up and paid for the beverage. Won't be back!

Bless their hearts, I need to say I went 2 different times, because the family members I went with chose to go there, not me. The atmosphere is lacking, floor sticky everywhere. The cleanliness seems lacking. Waited for for dinner order it was aweful. I have to say everyone I was with liked their food. I wasn't impressed. The amount of food is huge but still. Prices are still not cheap. I don't mean exspencive but... We went back for breakfast many days later. Agian not by my choice the breakfast seemed better the service was much better. However, everything was the same.

Came in last week with friends. We were all hungry and wanted something filling. I've been to the Kozy Kitchen a few times in Coos Bay and thought since this was a chain, it would be as fast and friendly as the CB location. Boy was I wrong! It didn't seem like a particularly busy Sunday. But we waited more than an hour for our food after placing our order. My friends food was decent. Mine was a disaster. My scambled eggs came out as sunnyside eggs. My carrot cake pancakes looked burnt. Turns out it was just camouflage to hide the hair the cooks left on it. I was starved at this point, so I let the waitress know (she seemed slightly taken aback), and proceeded to cut the section of pancake away that contained the hair. Yeah- I was THAT hungry after our hour wait. Only to find the top pancake was also uncooked in the middle. If the food wasn't insulting enough, so was the staff. I tried to flag down the long haired blonde bus girl/runner, who took great pains to ignore me. Seriously, never seen someone so intent to look at all the other patrons and just flat out ignore us. The floor sure must have been pretty interesting, nor the table ever more scrubbed down. We had to grab another waitress to ask her for our waitress. No refills were ever offered. They even tried to bill us for the hairy uncooked pancakes. Will never go back to the North Bend location.

A 9 inch long hair in our scrambled eggs... Need I say more? Of course... Our waiter wasnt at all shocked and offered us no comp for the food. We payed for our meal and left an appropriate tip;-)

I gave 2 stars because once we FINALLY it wasn't bad. The service was aweful, the staff and management rude. Several customers walked out only to have rude comments made after they left by management. It was really the worst place I have ever stopped in at and I will NEVER stop in again. You would be better off stopping at the near by 7-11 and getting a microwave breakfast burrito.

This place just keeps getting worse each time we go there. The service is not very good anymore and the food is hit and miss. I guess it depends on the cook. The menu is the same boring food time and time again. It is not very clean either . This place could use a good scrubbing ! They never have enough wait staff and it shows because the service lacks. Don't waste your time coming here .

My boyfriend and I came into kozy tonight and WOW!!! the so called "sever" they had working ( a old man) was very rude!! We were the only one's in there and we weren't even acknowledge when we walked in. But thats not why I'm writing this (Ive had problems with this same "sever" on SO MANY times but I have had many awesome severs here as well) The reason for this review is because when I got my food my hashbrowns were so GROSS!!! There was GREASE on the side of plate (it really only takes two seconds to wipe a plate I know this I am a cook myself!!!) I was sharing my hashbrowns with my boyfriend and I touched the top of them and they were greasy, soggy, pretty cold ( and still we are the ONLY PPL IN THE PLACE) I got the bagle sandwhich meat on the side so I was putting hashbrowns on that side place than I said I did not want the hashbrowns they are gross he takes the plate alll pissy like then goes on about what I SHOULD OF DONE DIGFERENTLY cuz I wasted there bacon he even walked away and CAME BACK to tell me how I wasted the bacon so we get up and walk out didnt even eat ANYTHING! Than he even CAME OUT TO OUR CAR to tell me that he would of saved the BACON !!! This guy SHOULD NOT be working with the public and I WILL NOT tell anyone anything good about this is place at all!!!

Their oreo milkshake is the only thing that brings this girl to the yard. I am not a fan of their food at all. I will occasionally split an alll american breakfast burrito with my hubby since it's massive, but that's about as far as it goes.

I only eat breakfast here but they have the best Monte Cristos I've ever had they are absolutely amazing you've got to have one and their prices are reasonable.

Without fail, every time we eat here the salt and pepper shaker, sugar dispenser, and condiments are nasty dirty. And we needed a fly swatter today darn it.

This is a wonderful family-dining experience. The food is good, the prices are comparable to other restaurants of this kind, but the service is far better than almost anywhere else we have gone. My wife and I have been married for 35+ years, and have been eating meals at that location since we were single and dating... :-) The staff is always kind, supportive of children (not just "tolerant") and the food is served in good time, even when the place is packed. We recommend it to anyone who wants good food and a family atmosphere.

This place is nasty. No clue why people go there. We go to the mill casino if we want breakfast food because this place has gone down hill.

This place is always a joy! Food is simple and good, great portions. Servers are always friendly and smiling, and the food arrives quickly. The chicken fried steak is goooood!
(5)Elisa M.
The food was alright, just your regular diner/cafe style food. I ordered the same thing as someone else at the table, and mine was missing toppings. That's okay, my friend shared his with me. We ordered drinks, which didn't come until into the meal when we had to remind the waitress again. I think one of the only 24 hour places around, so convenient. Decent food and prices, mediocre service.

Looking for breakfast on the coast is a real hit and miss thing. We tried a chain the day prior, and it was okay, but we wanted to try something local. We ordered biscuits and gravy, and the half and half (hash browns and biscuits and gravy.) Both were very plentiful. The taste was good, nothing amazing, but good, solid breakfast food. The service was good, not great, but good. I can see where if they were busy, the service might not be stellar. But for solid breakfast fare, this place is a good choice with prices that are reasonable.

The Kozy Kitchen is legendary. One goes to the Kozy when they want extremely satisfying American food and a warm atmosphere. It is frequented by locals, tourists, and the regions elected officials. Kozy fo' life.
(5)Gypsy S.
I give it 5 stars The only thing open 24 hours in Coos County. Awesome atmosphere. For a Local. Most of the time I come at 1:00 am. Today I am here at 7:00 pm. Most of the time I get a omelet for $7.95 that with coffee. If the stars are gone than at this time. Then someone messed up.

The food is good....if you get the chance to order. I've given this restaurant a couple chances to redeem itself, but every time I do, I'm more and more disappointed. The last two times have been utterly abysmal. The first of the two welcomed our patronage with a wait time of an hour and a half, just to get our food. The waitress was almost non-existent. This last weekend we decided to give Kozy Kitchen one more chance to "wow" us and make up for our last bad experience. Did not happen; it was even worse! We didn't wait an hour and a half for our food, but we DID wait about five minutes before we just walked out. The sign at the door said "Please Seat Yourself", so we did. There we're four or five dirty tables/booths that were empty so we picked one. In the five minutes or so that we were there, waiting to get our table cleaned and our menus brought to us, all other tables were left dirty as well. The waitresses were walking around not being very productive and all the while not even acknowledging our existence. We were finally fed up and went somewhere else. But on the way out I noticed one of the waitresses at the register watching us walk out. Again, not saying a word. Will never go here again.

Don't bother going here. Food is bland, service was next to non-existent. I won't go here again.
